Description

MMEX Database Repair is a small, multilingual Windows utility designed to recover damaged Money Manager Ex (MMEX) database files (.mmb).

The program uses the SQLite .recover command to extract readable data from a damaged database and create a repaired copy.

The original database remains unchanged.

Features

  • Supports German, English, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.

  • Automatically selects the language based on Windows settings.

  • Opens the Windows Documents folder by default.

  • Allows users to select an MMEX database (*.mmb).

  • Uses SQLite's .recover function to recover database content.

  • Saves the recovered database as OriginalName_fix.mmb in the same folder.

  • Checks the recovered database using PRAGMA integrity_check.

  • Automatically closes after the completion message is confirmed.

Installation

  1. Download MMEX_Database_Repair_V0.6.zip.

  2. Extract the ZIP file into a folder of your choice.

  3. Run Start_Repair.cmd.

  4. If sqlite3.exe is not available, the program downloads it automatically. An internet connection is required for the first download.

No Python installation is required.

How to Use

  1. Close Money Manager Ex.

  2. Start MMEX Database Repair.

  3. Select the database file you want to repair.

  4. Start the recovery process.

  5. Wait until the program displays the result.

  6. Confirm the completion message by clicking OK.

  7. The program closes automatically.

The recovered database is saved in the same directory as the original file.

Example:

Original database: MyFinances.mmb

Recovered database: MyFinances_fix.mmb

Important Notes

The SQLite .recover command attempts to recover as much readable information as possible from a damaged database. However, complete recovery cannot be guaranteed.

A successful integrity check confirms the structural consistency of the recovered SQLite database, but does not guarantee that all financial transactions or relationships have been preserved.

Always open the recovered database in Money Manager Ex and verify account balances, transactions, investments and other important data before using it as your main database.

Recommendation: Keep regular backups of your MMEX databases. Database recovery is not a substitute for a reliable backup strategy.

System Requirements

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11

  • Windows PowerShell

  • SQLite command-line utility (sqlite3.exe, automatically downloaded if required)

  • Money Manager Ex database in .mmb format
